Sparkhouse Phase II

A landmark environmental building by Stem Architects

PROJECT: Sparkhouse Phase II
MAIN CONTRACTOR: Lindum Construction Group
PROJECT VALUE: £165,000

Lincoln University Enterprise@Lincoln is Lincoln City Centre's first BREEAM 'Excellent' rated development.

A bold approach to a sustainable building draws directly from the railway typology of its partner Sparkhouse Studios. A series of spaces dedicated to local business and entrepreneurships are stacked in a four storey slate clad box which is punctuated by cantilevered carriages.

The facility offers cutting edge building techniques, such as a Sedum Roofing System and photovoltaic cells and will provide university graduates and new businesses with subsidised rented office and workshop space.

We undertook the installation of partitions, drylining, plastering and suspended ceilings for this landmark project. British Gypsum products were used for all the drylining and partition works carried out. Ecophon grid and tiles erected to all areas requiring suspended ceilings. Ecophon Focus Ds XL, Focus A and Hygiene Meditec C1 installed.

As part of the scope of our works we were required to install specialised insulation and sealant products to achieve the BREEAM excellent rating. The works had to be completed to a condensed program which was achieved on time and to a very high standard.
